We design BI solutions according to a bottom-up principle. In the first step, the focus is not on the specific current issues that need to be answered, but on the business processes that originally generate the data in the company and ultimately make up the core of information gathering. Prerequisite for this approach are the core competences of conesprit: On the one hand, we use an in-depth understanding of business processes and company objects through long-term experience, and on the other hand we have a high level of technical expertise in how business processes and company objects are generically modeled.
Starting from the desired result of a BI solution and the answers to concrete technical questions, we identify the relevant business processes and company objects that provide the raw data for answering the questions. When designing BI solutions, we initially model the company objects at their core, regardless of the technical issues, so that the data on the company objects can also be used in future scenarios. In a further step, based on the generic mapping of the company objects, we model the concrete scenario that is necessary to answer the current questions. New scenarios can fall back on company objects that are already displayed. In the event that new company objects are necessary, the existing object model can simply be supplemented by new objects.
Based on our many years of experience, we have developed our own approach for the generic modeling of objects to business processes and company objects: Object Oriented Data Warehouse Solutions, in short EDW OO.
